TCBA Policy Recommendations
With the state's TANF reserve around $730 million, there is a unique opportunity to utilize a portion of those funds to increase financial support and services for grandparents and relative caregivers in Tennessee. Organizations including AARP-TN, Family & Children's Service, and AgeWell Middle Tennessee (formerly Council on Aging) are appealing to state leaders to invest in supporting the 80,000+ grandparent caregivers across the state so they can care for their grandchildren without depleting their retirement savings. Please consider supporting this opportunity to improve support for grandparent and relative caregivers in Tennessee.
Reimagining LTSS Meetings
TCBA, in collaboration with other stakeholders and partner organizations, is organizing a series of virtual conversations and working meetings to reimagine long-term services and supports (LTSS) in TN. Many states are already innovating how they provide and finance long term care. It’s time for us to do the same. We hope to spark genuine conversation about how we want to live as we grow older, and how our state can best support older Tennesseans, adults with disabilities who need long-term care, and family caregivers. We invite you to be part of these conversations so that together, we can create a better LTSS system for all of us who call Tennessee home.
