TCBA Policy Recommendations
With the state's TANF reserve of around $730 million, there is a unique opportunity to utilize a portion of those funds to increase financial support and services for grandparents and relative caregivers in Tennessee. Organizations including AARP-TN, Family & Children's Service, and AgeWell Middle Tennessee (formerly Council on Aging) are appealing to state leaders to invest in supporting the 80,000+ grandparent caregivers across the state so they can care for their grandchildren without depleting their retirement savings. Please consider supporting this opportunity to improve support for grandparent and relative caregivers in Tennessee.
In Spring 2021, TCBA hosted three public meetings and created Guiding Principles for improving Long Term Services and Supports in TN – something that is a priority for the coalition especially given the challenges we’ve seen during the COVID-19 pandemic. This is an issue that affects all of us since we're all aging, we're all part of families and families are the backbone of providing long-term care support.
Long Term Services & Supports include a wide spectrum of services and support offered by multiple sectors to enable adults to live and age well – both home and community-based services and long term care in congregate settings.
